Dear Clairlea Families….

It’s movie night tonight at Clairlea.  Featuring “The BoxTrolls” and we hope to see you there, Friday at 7:00pm (see details here).

CLAIRLEA FUNFAIR…It’s official the date is set. The Clairlea funfair will take place on June 18^th.  Our first planning meeting is on Wednesday February 4 (NOTE CORRECTED DATE) at 7:00pm at the School.  If you want to be a part of this big event and have ideas please email us at clairleacouncil@gmail.com to confirm your attendance for the planning meeting.  What do you think we should do with the funds raised from the 2015 Funfair?   Updated: this event has been postponed to 2016

Three things we learned at school council - you're going to love #2

Three things we learned at this week's school council meeting...

1. The school concert "The Evolution of Hip Hop" will be on Thursday March 5 at SATEC. The Mayhem brothers will be working on the production with the music and dance classes starting in February. Meanwhile, art classes will prepare graffiti art and backdrops for the production. Mark your calendars and plan on buying tickets for the basket raffle. 
2. Clairlea is getting a snack program! Funded by the Toronto Foundation for Student Success, it will provide healthy snacks to everyone with parental permission, for a small monthly fee. It'll be on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting after March break for the remainder of this school year, moving to four or five days a week next year. Allergies will be accommodated. Watch for information to come home in a month or so.
3. Clairlea will be having a Fun Fair in June. There's a volunteer planning meeting on February 4 (NOTE CORRECTED DATE) at 7pm. Email clairleacouncil@gmail.com if you plan to attend the planning meeting.

REMINDER…

School Council meetings take place on the 3^rd Wednesday of each month.  The next school council meeting is tonight Wednesday January 21^st from 7pm-8:30pm. Free child minding is available.  All are welcome and we hope to see you there!

WHAT'S COMING UP.....

PIZZA LUNCH… (MONEY ORDER ENVELOPES ARE DUE THIS THURSDAY JANUARY 22ND) Pizza lunch will take place on Wednesday January 28^th.  Please note this is NOT when the pizza lunch envelope orders are due.  Due to the large volume of pizza that needs to be ordered for the school we need to place the order a few days prior to the actual pizza lunch date.  That means if a child submits their order late there is a risk that your child may not receive pizza because they would not have been part of the original order.  Please make an effort to submit your orders on time as per the date on the envelope and not on the date of the actual pizza lunch, as well please take a moment to carefully fill out the form.  From time to time we do receive orders with missing information.  If there is information lacking on your order we will default to 2 cheese slices and water.

MOVIE NIGHT…   (JANUARY 30^TH)  Our first movie of 2015 is “THE BOXTROLLS”.  (see flyer attached) The movie will take place in the gym on Friday January 30^th at 7:00pm sharp.  Entrance is $2 per person (child or adult) and the movie is available to children grade six and under.  Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.  Popcorn and drinks will be available for sale during the movie.  We encourage children to come in pajamas and bring blankets and pillows if they like and get comfortable in the gym for a fun family night.

CLAIRLEA FUNFAIR…(COMING IN JUNE 2015) I know it’s cold outside and it’s hard to imagine it but we have started to plan the Clairlea Funfair.  Last year was a great success brining in close to $5000 in profits going to our Clairlea Reading Program.  Thanks to all that attended and the hard work of all the volunteers.  We want to do it again and to get the ball rolling we have our first planning meeting on Wednesday February 3^rd at 7:00pm at the School.  If you want to be a part of this big event and have ideas please email us at clairleacouncil@gmail.com to confirm your attendance for the planning meeting.  What do you think we should do with the funds raised from the 2015 Funfair?

Gingerbread raffle - thank you!

A big round of applause for everyone who donated to Clairlea's gingerbread house raffle last month.We raised $117, which purchased 11 gifts for the Toronto Police Service's annual toy drive. Thank you!
