Tips on choosing Grade 9 courses, from People for Education

People for Education has released a tip sheet to help grade 8 students and their parents select their grade 9 courses. Here's an excerpt from their announcement:
Starting Grade 9 in September? Choose Courses Carefully

In March, students in grade 8 have to submit their course selection sheets to the high school they plan to attend. These course choices are very important, because they have an impact on what students can take in grades 11 and 12, and on their options for post-secondary education.

One of the choices students have to make is whether to take Academic or Applied courses in math, English, French and science. This is a very important decision and parents should help students consider the decision carefully.

I'm sure grade 8 parents already know about this, but the guidance counsellors in our region also have a blog: http://eastregion12guidance.blogspot.ca/ where useful information can be found.
