Gift orders due November 1

Just a friendly reminder that the "Calendar" fundraiser orders are due on November 1. This is the "Norcard" gift catalogue with the snowmen on the front. Clairlea receives 50% of the total amount purchased, so it's a great way of supporting the school.

Return the three front copies of the order sheet to Clairlea and keep the gold (back) page for your records. You will receive your order in plenty of time for the holidays.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Halloween Howl, spent money, ate pizza, tossed loonies, donated prizes, decorated, volunteered in a room, cleaned up and had fun! It was a great event...early reports suggest approximately 500 people came through the door. Stay tuned for more information and thanks again to everyone who helped make this a success.

How you can help with Halloween Howl

A message from School Council chair Irit Hartman:

Dear Clairlea Families….

Only 2 days left, come out this Saturday!!!! The Halloween Howl fundraiser is fast approaching.  

The big event will take place this Saturday October 27^th from 4pm to 7pm.    $5.00/per child entry fee (adult no charge) will enable your family to go room to room for a fun adventure. 

Children 12 and under need to be accompanied by an adult, as supervision is not provided at this event. 

For those of you that have sent in your money and envelopes for the pre-ordered dinner the tickets will be sent home in the backpacks on Friday .  Please ensure that you bring your tickets to receive your meal.  We will have some extra pizza for those of you that want to order on the night of the event.  Don’t forget to dress up and bring your map!!!

For those of you that are volunteering – setup times will take place on Friday from 3:30 until 9:00pm and again on Saturday from 1:00 until 4:00pm.  For any and all questions please contact clairleacouncil@gmail.com.

If you wanted to help out and haven’t had a chance to yet here is what you can do….

DECORATION DROP OFF: We need Halloween decorations of all kinds!! There is a large blue bin in front of the main office of the school where you can drop off all items.  Dig up any decorations you are not using or loan us yours for the event and you can have them back at the end of the night, or pick up an extra item or two the next time you are at the dollar store.

CORPORATE DONATIONS: If your company would like to donate a prize or gift to be used as one of our prizes during the event please contact us at clairleacouncil@gmail.com.

HOME MADE CANDY JARS:  We need many candy jars to be used as prizes for the Lollipop Pull room.  You can help by filling any sized jar with (nut free) candy and bring it to the school office anytime between now and the Halloween Howl.  The more jars we have the longer this room will be able to stay open and it is definitely one of the favourite rooms.  Feel free to decorate your jars as well.

Pizza lunch orders due tomorrow

Pizza lunch orders are due tomorrow. If you need to, you can download and print the order form. Please send it to school with your child. Proceeds from pizza lunch support the nutrition and healthy living programs at Clairlea.

Halloween Howl is THIS SATURDAY

The Halloween Howl is this Saturday October 27! 4pm-7pm at the school.

$5 admission (adults are free)

- Make your own scary hand
...and a costume contest, 6:45pm in the gym

There is a planning meeting on Monday October 15 at 7pm and all volunteers are invited to attend. If you are a high school student seeking volunteer hours, please join us! See the request form here.

DEAR CLAIRLEA FAMILIES,

We are just over a month into our school year and things are getting busy!  I’ve outlined below some key dates coming up as well as where we could use your help!  Please have a look through and as always we want to hear your comments so please contact us via clairleacouncil@gmail.com or drop a note in the main office School Council Bin or come to the next School Council meeting – Wednesday October 17^th 7pm-9pm.  Also have a look at our School Council bulletin board located outside the Main Office to keep up to date of what is going on! 

WHAT'S COMING UP.....

The team is working hard putting together the upcoming Clairlea Halloween Howl Fundraiser.  Please save the date and bring the children out for a spooky fun time on Saturday October 27th from 4pm-7pm.  We encourage the children to dress up in their favourite costume so that they can participate in the contest at the end of the evening!   Entry is only $5.00/per child and you can order your dinner in advance.  Keep an eye out this week in the backpacks for the flyer/map with all the details of the night so bring it with you to the Howl to help navigate. YOUR HELP IS NEEDED PLEASE.....

1.       VOLUNTEERS:  Please come to our next Halloween Howl Volunteers Meeting on Monday October 15th from 7pm-9pm in the staff room.  We need your help to make this a fun time for our Clairlea children.  We need people to lead rooms as well as help with setup and clean up. If you are unable to come to the meeting and want to volunteer please email us your contact details or drop off a note in the main office in the School Council Bin. Do you have something specific in mind that you think will make an impact for all the students?
